**LABORATORY USE OF SYRINGES AND NEEDLES**
Medical-grade disposable hypodermic syringes are often used in research laboratories for convenience and low cost. They are often used for measuring and transferring solvents and reagents where a high precision is not required. Used with a long needle or cannula, syringes are also useful for transferring fluids through rubber septa when atmospheric oxygen or moisture are being excluded. Examples include the transfer of air-sensitive or pyrophoric reagents such as phenylmagnesium bromide and n-butyllithium respectively. Glass syringes are also used to inject small samples for gas chromatography (1 µl) and mass spectrometry (10 µl). Syringe drivers may be used with the syringe as well.
All brands of needles are pre-sterilized, non toxic, pyrogen free and individually sealed. All of the needles we sell are thin walled and precision point. The Thin Wall needle design is thinner than a Regular Wall needle. The inner diameter is bigger without any increase in the outside diameter. For example, a 21 gauge Thin Wall needle has the same outside diameter as a 21 gauge Regular Wall, but has the same inner diameter as a 20 gauge needle. Thin Wall allows the same flow volume as a standard walled needle one gauge larger.
